What PCC is

PCC is hosted compression for your files, called through tools. Your tool sends a file; it gets back the smallest faithful copy — and when you restore it, every single byte is identical to the original. A smaller file, guaranteed identical when unzipped.

Here is why that matters. Storage and bandwidth cost real money, and most files carry far more redundancy than they need to. PCC runs your file through a tournament of compression methods and keeps whichever one wins — then proves the win by decoding it and checking every byte. In one live receipt, a 51 MB file came back as 16.7 MB, every byte verified on restore.

Lossless is a promise, not a hope. If nothing can shrink your file, PCC stores it as-is — it never makes a file bigger. And the proof is public: on the standard Silesia benchmark set, PCC pcc-0.12.1 packed the corpus to 51,498,645 bytes, 12 of 12 decoded. The local TNSSRC stamp on the same corpus is 43,724,575. Both numbers are on the board at /silesia.

It is hosted, so our machines do the work — your tools call it over HTTP with a key, from npm, or through MCP. The first 2 GB each month are free; after that it is 8¢ per GB, with a $39-a-month Pro plan (200 GB included), a $390 year plan, and a day pass for short runs.

What it is

PCC is a compression service. Lossless means the file you restore is the file you sent. Hosted means our machines run the pathways; your seat buys access.
