Price comparison
PCC vs the usual bill
PCC is hosted lossless compression: send a file, get a smaller one, restore every byte. $49/month includes 200 GB, then 8¢/GB. Cloudinary Plus starts at $99. AWS S3 charges about 9¢/GB to send the file out uncompressed.

| PCC Slid Phi Labs |
Hosted lossless compressor. Files, or a live pipe for logs. Dual-licensed public source, or a paid grant to ship closed. | $9 / day · $49 / month (200 GB) · $490 / year (2,000 GB) | 8¢ / GB. Card charges start at $1. First 2 GB each month are free with no plan. |
| Cloudinary Plus | Image and video platform. Credits cover transforms, storage, and CDN delivery. | $99 / month for 225 credits. One credit ≈ 1 GB image bandwidth or 1,000 transforms (~44¢ per credit if you spend them on bandwidth). | Buy a bigger plan. Not a lossless file compressor. |
| AWS S3 internet egress | Object storage. Sends your file out. Does not compress it. | Storage extra. First-tier transfer out about 9¢ / GB (US). | Still ~9¢ / GB, then slightly less at huge volume. You still ship the original size. |
| TinyPNG API | Image compress only (PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF). | 500 images / month free, then 0.9¢ per image until 10,000. | 0.2¢ per image after 10,000. Cheap for thumbnails. A 5 MB photo is 0.9¢; a 500 MB archive is the wrong product. |
We are not cheaper than gzip on your own machine. We are not cheaper than a CDN that charges $0 to send bytes (Cloudflare R2). Those are not hosted lossless compressors.
We are cheaper than paying Cloudinary $99 to start, cheaper than paying AWS ~9¢/GB to ship uncompressed files, and cheaper per gigabyte than TinyPNG once the files are large. The lab publishes the meter. Source is dual-licensed. Hosted PCC is the grant that runs every own pathway on our machines.
